Gas Erosion / Gas Ablation
Gas ablation resistance characterizes the ability of a material to withstand the sustained action of high-temperature, high-velocity gas, suppressing surface ablation, erosion, and mass and thickness loss. High-temperature gas brings a strong thermal load. The gas components undergo thermochemical reactions with the substrate, combined with high-velocity airflow shear and particle impact. These multiple coupled effects cause continuous material loss. Evaluating this performance can predict dimensional changes of components under high-temperature airflow conditions, maintain the stability of flow channel configuration, slow substrate loss, and extend service life.
