Testing of Non-metallic Sealing Gasket and Its Composite Reinforced Gasket

The industry of non-metallic gaskets and composite reinforced gaskets has gradually evolved in China, driven by the increasing demand for precision industrial sealing. In the 1980s and 1990s, rapid industrial development led to the mass production of simple gaskets, primarily made from pure rubber and asbestos rubber, meeting basic sealing needs under low-pressure, ambient temperature conditions. Since the turn of the century, stricter environmental policies and industrial equipment upgrades have made non-asbestos gaskets mainstream. Additionally, sealing needs under high pressure and corrosive conditions in the chemical and energy sectors spurred breakthroughs in composite reinforcement technologies. Combining rubber with fiber fabric, graphite with wire mesh, or PTFE with fiberglass improved both sealing tightness and mechanical strength. In recent years, the rise of high-end sectors such as new energy (hydrogen, LNG), semiconductors, and aerospace has introduced stricter requirements: low VOC, ultra-high pressure resistance, and ultra-low temperature resistance. Together with evolving standards, this has accelerated the industry's shift toward precision forming, composite efficiency, and custom-fit designs. Today, China is the world's largest producer of sealing gaskets, offering products ranging from spiral-wound gaskets to corrugated composite and flexible graphite composite types, suited for everything from petrochemical high-pressure vessels to high-purity semiconductor lines and new energy storage tanks.

We have set up a dedicated testing team for formed sealing components. Based on gasket type and operational parameters (pressure, temperature, media), we provide customized testing services, including seal leakage rate, composite layer bonding strength, and cyclic fatigue resistance, helping to build a crucial safety barrier for equipment sealing.
